Making the most of the gym..

When we arrived here in Cali I knew one of the first things I wanted to do was join the YMCA. I wanted a place to take the kids to the pool, a place for me to work out, and bonus is that it has a daycare that I can take The Fish to for two hours a day while I work out. At first I wasn't using up the full two hours because well, I needed to get back into shape. It just so happens that our gym requires you to carry a gym towel with you at all times. Well the crafty person in me was getting bored with my plain jane hand towels so I decided to get creative and here is what I came up with.

Aren't they cute?? My friend Alicia sent me a set a while back with a knitting swap package and I LOVE them. I use the ones she made in my kitchen, but these will be great for the gym. Just a set of bar mop towels (100% cotton) with some fabric scraps sewn on to add cuteness! And because I just couldn't stop there, I also made a flax seed heat pad for the body aches after the gym!

So now when I am burning 1000 calories a day I will do it in style...or at least my towel will have style!

It's a Bird, It's a plane, it's SUPER boy!

This morning my 3 year old walked up to me with a placemat the rolls up and ties around his neck as a "cape", so what did I do?? I went and made him a real cape of course. Being as that I lost my job a few weeks ago I have extra time to do these things for my kiddos and I LOVE it! I had some Riley Blake fat quarters laying around that I purchased because I loved and never had time to use. Then for the pattern I just kinda winged it. I even made my own bias tape without any directions, other than what my bestie had described to me a while back. So here is the end result!

My first time at applique, and while it is not perfect I think it turned out ok.

Here it is showing the back side too, so it is reversible!!

And after all that I had to bribe the boy to put it on, he decided he doesn't like the Orange "J" goof ball. I am sure he will want to wear it soon though, he is fickle like that.

Ring Bearer Pillow

My bff from highschool is getting married in 22 days and when she showed me this and asked that I email the shop owner to see about changing the dimensions my response was NO. Why would I be so cruel you ask??? Because I wasn't about to let her purchase something I could easily make myself for about 1/2 the cost. So I was able to recreate her pillow to her dimensions and she gets an extra special treat in that it was handmade with love just for her. In all it took about 30 mins to make and I did it all with a smile on my face and love in my heart. I am so excited to share this special day with her and her future husband. Love you guys!!

PS ignore the picture quality, it is 9:30 pm and the sun has gone down and I just had to get this posted so she could see it!

Lady Bugs and Laughter

As promised I am back to show off the pajamas I made for the girls. They love to have things made for them unlike Ky Guy, he gives me the eye roll when I ask him if he wants me to make him something. Darn preteen boys! Anywho the girls LOVE their new jammies and can't wait for me to make them more. I have a few more pairs that are almost done and I will show those off soon too. The Fish will be getting some new pairs himself as he loves to sleep in just bottoms during the summer so his will be easy peasy. Lippy Lou was cracking me while I was trying to get pictures, she seemed to think I wanted to see every silly face she has ever thought up. This was the least "cheesy" of the group!

My BFF gave me the idea to buy matching shirts and add fabric from the bottoms material to make them even cuter. I think they turned out way better than I could have ever imagined and I scored at Old Navy finding shirts to match ALL the different materials I had! The headbands were made from two scraps of the cuff fabric and one scrap of the main fabric.

Cutest Little Headbands

I can across this tutorial on Ucreate today and fell in love and had to try it myself. I changed it up a little bit, because my bff gave me a complex about the elastic showing but they were super easy and super fun to make. My girls LOVE them!

Stay tuned because those headbands match their new jammies I made them, I will be showing those off here soon :D
