Raised Garden Beds

The hubs is a pretty crafty guy if I say so myself.  He created the lovely cedar raised garden beds for me for mothers day.  I can't wait to reap the goodness of what we have sown.  The kids fight over who gets to water the plants each day and are constantly telling me about the new things peeking out from the soil.  Right now we have peppers, lettuce, spinach, peas, carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, herbs and lots more growing in our yard.  Lets hope I can keep up with it when the hubs is out to sea.

This cute little guy is holding all the things I started from seeds seen here.

One of my most beautiful creations...

Joseph Robert, aka Joefish, Joe Bob, Joe Joe, Junebug

My sweet baby boy is turning two today, two years ago after almost 24 hrs of an attempted VBAC delivery and a very smooth c-section our fourth and final child was born at 8:49 am. He was our smallest at 8 lbs 11 oz and was 21.5 inches long. Although his life began with a bout of pneumonia and a 12 day NICU stay he has been happy and fairly healthy ever since. He is a joy to be around and a perpetual motion machine.

Happy Birthday sweet baby boy!

The Product of a Day Alone!

This weekend the hubs took the kids to visit his Aunt and Uncle who were down visiting family and gave me the day ALONE in our house to be crafty. It was a GREAT day and the product of it was the second quilt for the girls room. I was so excited to finally get it done considering it has been cut out for over a year. I also got a quilt cut out and the squares quilted for a gift I am making. All in all it was a great day. Here is the quilt prior to being snipped (that still needs to be done).

Please ignore the crappy lighting and the video game playing/beer drinking hubs. He did afterall have 4 kids alone all day long ;)

Wedding Invite Samples

One of my bff's is getting married in August and came to me this week about trying to come up with an easy yet elegant make it yourself invitation. The happy couple is paying for most of the wedding themselves. This means making a lot of the decorations, etc., with the help of crafty friends of course! So this is what I came up with after hearing all of the bride's ideas, and she is in love. Please note that the picture will fill the space but that was the only frame people I could find in my house Gotta love frame people!

The pink dots on the ribbon are going to match the pink paper but I had to order it since my local craft store's didn't work and it was much cheaper to order. And of course their will be a wonderful pic of the bride and groom under the vellum that I hope to capture next weekend when I head down to their place. But other than that I think it looks nice. The "verb age" will be over the picture printed in an espresso brown.

Chores...More Organized

So I made up chore cards a LONG time ago for myself and for the kids. Mine were organized in a very cute box, although seldomly used, but I just couldn't figure out what/how to organize the kid's cards in a way that would make it easy for them to see what needed to be done and what did not. Today I went shopping with the kids and at our last stop, Marshall's, the problem was solved.

Very cute and quite handy! I am going to redo the "To Be Done" and "Done" cards in the cute little windows because I hate my handwriting, but I wanted to try it out tonight so this is what we get! I am also going to add a divider between the top two sections as only the bottom ones have the divider.

Problem solved! Now on to other crafts...

Gerbera Daisy Wreath

So I have decided I want to try to do a new wreath for each season. I am not sure if I like this one or hate it, but I know I don't love it. What do you think??

Missing My Momma this Mother's Day

I came across this song on an old friends facebook just in time for Mother's Day. It makes me cry every time but I love it non the less.

I love you momma, and miss you terribly.

Renewed Hope

Over the years many times I have come to the conclusion that I just didn't have the gene for growing things. Lets face it my thumbs were black, not even remotely close to any shade of green. I have tried many times to grow things, anything, and failed. From plants I have purchased because they were pretty, or to decorate my house with, or plants that were given to me, I have tried to keep them all alive and the poor things had no chance. Once while living with my Aunt Sandy and her family for a while I had a plant growing, ok fighting for it's life, in my room and one day it just disappeared. I noticed it was gone and asked Aunt Sandy if she knew what happened to it and she quickly replied, "You mean the twig? Yes, I saved it's life." And she did just that, my plant, er um twig, was saved from long, hot, dry death by my wonderful Aunt. Once it was revived and thriving I asked if I could have the plant back and Aunt Sand said, "no". Probably a good thing she had that plants best interest at heart. I am sure that somewhere in her house that plant is still thriving and growing well, as for me I have killed many other plants along the way, may they rest in peace.

So for today's renewed hope I give you this...

I, yes I, the one with black thumbs grew them, from SEEDS. With a little help from Target's dollar spot herb/tomato/strawberry kits and tips from Gerry at the office I GREW these, and they are alive and thriving. Paul is building raised beds in the backyard soon to where they will be transplanted and grown. My momma would be so proud. Her thumbs were bright green! Aunt Sandy will be proud too, but I bet she still doesn't give the plant back ;).

Instead of Crafting This Week....

I ran, and ran, and ran.... in preparation for a 5K or 3.1 miles. I ran in the Eugene 5K and came in at 35 mins 35 seconds. Which beat my old 5K time by 1 minute 10 seconds. Here is a pic of me and my running buddy Brooke and her sister Mia (aka my pseudo sisters) BEFORE the run, no I don't look that good after running ;). I walked/ran a total of 20 miles last week, here's to 20 more this week ;)

Hopefully by next weekend I will have lots of crafty things to show you :D.
