Pillow Covers Galore

So I have had this fabulous fabric for about a month that I found at Joann and got a GREAT deal because it was the end of the bolt. I think I got over a yard for less than $11 and it is microfiber suede. The pillow forms were also on sale 1/2 off so I did pretty good. I got a new slip cover for my couch and wanted cute new pillows to go with so when I saw this fabric I knew it was perfect. So for this weeks crafty adventure you get pillows!

Rag Quilt in a Week

So what if the hubs is coming home in a week, the house still needs some serious organizing before he gets here and I have loads of other stuff to do. I have a rag quilt to make! Not only did the rag quilt get finished but the house is looking great and everything else got done YAY. Lets not mention that it is less than 15 hrs from reunion with the hubs and I am still awake wondering how to make time fly by, sleep is what most people would do but not I, I am up taking pictures of said rag quilt. So enjoy!

The Fish has loved it from the cutting stage and continued to love on it as I worked in each stage, I have a feeling this blanket will be well loved for years!

Sandwiches, X's and Opinions Please

Lippy Lou and I sat together today and made 175 quilt sandwiches. It was great to sit with her and talk and not listen to her whine for hours on end. Fish was sleeping, Lynner Binner was next door and Ky Guy was playing video games so we got some much needed alone time. So we sat and stacked and talked for a good hour, but then it was time to pick up and eat dinner.

After Lippy Lou and Fish went to bed Lynner Binner and I sat and worked together on sewing the X's on the sandwiches that Lippy Lou and I had made earlier in the day. My goal was to have them all sewn by 11:30 PM and by golly I got done at 11:27 YAY ME.

So now I need your opinion and I really do want the truth. Please check out the pattern below and tell me if it needs fixin or if I am good to go. I am not sure I completely love it but I know I don't hate it either.

A Dream In Real Life

I saw this idea either on a blog or in a magazine close to a year ago. I saw it and I fell in love. Because our last apartment didn't have the room and I was unable to find frames at a price I was willing to pay the project got put on the back burner. Since we moved to our new house it has been my goal to decorate and I have done just that! Now in the past we have had a few decorations, mostly pictures or nick-nacks but nothing special and nor did everything always match.

So are you ready to see it????

Drumroll Please.......................

There are a few pictures that I would like to change out but have realized that a lot of my negatives and picture cd's are in my dad's safe and because I wanted to get it done and up on the wall I went ahead with what I had access to. The frames were purchased at Michael's on sale 50% off and I worked my photoshop magic on all the pictures and had them printed in 11X14 at costco so that I could trim them down to 10X10. Hope it was worth the wait!

Excuses, Excuses...

So yes I know this is an excuse, but it is a very valid one I promise. This week has been quite interesting, we are on the downhill slope to the hubs coming home from being out to sea for over 6 weeks and every one is getting a little excited. I am very excited but also nervous I won't get the house cleaned up and organized before he gets here. Not that he cares, but I hate for him to come home to a messy, cluttered, unorganized house. I think so far I have done a great job considering I had the whole house unpacked in 3 days when we moved here and the storage shipment arrived after he had left and it is now 9/10ths put away. Our room looked like a bomb had gone off until yesterday, I went in and I clean it. Ky Guy comes home and says "wow mom you cleaned your room!". Why yes, yes I did. He then says "so how many boxes did you lose"....smart a$$. Lynner Binner and Lippy Lou lose a box of toys for each week they can't keep their room clean, so he thinks I should to. Growing into quite the young MAN I can see.

But stay tuned as I have almost completed a project I have been dreaming about for almost a year, I should be able to have pictures of it posted before the hubs gets home, which is less than a week away!

And We Have Progress

I had a busy weekend with my rotary tool and am very happy with the progress I have made.  I cut out over 700 quilt squares and although I have a ton more to go I am almost ready to get started on sewing Fish's quilt and have high hopes that it will be done by his birthday at the end of May.  Then I can get started on Lippy's and hope to have it done by mid June for her birthday as well.

and to continue with the progress theme, I got the laundry room clean and decluttered! YAY!  The Hubs is due home in just 8 short days and as I look around I send myself into a panic knowing that I only have 8 days to have this house spotless for him eeeek.  Clean or Craft, Clean or Craft...I ask myself this multiple times a day.

Happy Easter

May this day fill everyone's hearts with love and joy.  And may all the little children know the true meaning behind why we celebrate this day.

Rag Quilt...a year in the making.

So from time to time I get these grandiose ideas/projects.  I am a jump in both feet first kind of person so I start and then soon I realize that I have jumped into quicksand.  I do keep myself above the level of these sand but often times it takes weeks/months/years to get my feet back on solid ground.  So after many, many months I have finally completed the project above and I am very proud of it.  However there is still a second one that is all cut out and has yet to be sewn.

Because I am a Navy wife, and a proud one at that, when my husband is called to duty so am I.  We have moved 3 times in the past 8 months, one of those times it was to my dad's for the summer (3 months) where I did not have the fabric, sewing machine, or the time to work on my quilts.  In August we moved to Rhode Island to join the Hubs and between unpacking, settling the kids in school and work I again had no time to sew, I was still struggling in the quick sand.  Again in February we moved to Washington where will be stationed for 18 months and now that we are finally mostly unpacked and back to semi normalcy I was FINALLY able to unearth the sewing machine and stand on solid ground.  So the goal is to keep it dusted off and to stay on solid ground and get the second quilt done before Lynner Binners birthday in August.  Today I cut out the Fish's quilt top and hope to have the middle layer done before I lay me down to sleep.  Progress...slow but steady progress....

Easter Wreath

So I try my hardest to be a good mom, give my kids the love and care they need but one thing I almost never do is decorate for the holidays. So after I saw this post from the wonder lady at www.bedifferentactnormal.blogspot.com I knew I just had to try it. One thing I have decided I want to do this year is be a better decorator and well here is my version of the Easter Wreath.

My daughters reaction as I was making the wreath.... "wow mom this is the first time we have decorated for a holiday EVER". So as if I didn't feel horrible already she added to my pain and fueled the fire to do a better job.

PS... This was not the first time I have ever decorated for a holiday, just the first time other than Christmas or Thanksgiving.....oops.

Intentions....

So I have had every intention of keeping up with a blog of all my crafty goods over the past few months but life just got away with me.  So new goals....blog at least one crafty thing I have done each week, hopefully 2 or 3 but I don't want to beat myself up so 1 is my goal for now.  Hubby is due back from deployment soon so hopefully I will have more time since I will no longer be a single mom via the Navy.  Ok enough excuses and on to the crafty goods.  Picture posts to follow soon!
